The annual number of foreign visitors to Korea surpassed 8 million for the first time on November 29.

Chinese tourist Sun Renzhou was welcomed as the 8 millionth visitor when she arrived at Incheon International Airport from Shanghai.

The annual number of foreign visitors has been on the rise, reaching 6 million in 2005 and just under 8 million last year. The Korea Tourism Organization estimates the figure will hit 8.7 million this year.

The government aims to draw 8.5 million inbound foreign visitors in 2010.
