‘Hi Seoul’ is a festival created by citizens of Seoul to showcase the cities history, tradition, diversity and uniqueness. The festival hopes to create a street carnival atmosphere and will enable everyone to participate in making the festival a success.

In May tourists from around the world and Seoulites will gather together for an exciting festival in Seoul, turning the already vibrant city, rich in diverse culture with a 600-year-old history, into a city with even more excitement. The Hi Seoul Festival 2004 will be held in major areas of Seoul including the City Hall Plaza, Palaces and Daehangno.

Korean Wave White Night Festival will be a street festival held at night to show the dynamism and diversity of Seoul that is present 24 hours a day. Korean Wave White Night in Seoul will be held from 5:00 pm May 8th to 8:00 am the next day at the City Hall Plaza and around the central Seoul area.

For the event held prior to the opening of the Korean Wave White Night Festival, the street cheering of the 2002 World Cup will be re-enacted. For opening events, Seoul, Light in Motion (PiGi Show) with the City Hall building as the setting, laser performance and air show with motor paragliding will be prepared.

As part of the 'Korean Wave Festival,’ various stars leading the Korean Wave in China, Japan and Southeast Asia will perform in the Korean Wave Concert. A fashion show of a renowned Korean fashion designer is also planned where Korean Wave stars will participate in. This can serve as a chance for Seoul to strengthen its image as a vibrant culture and tourism hub taking advantage of the Korean Wave and for Korea, an opportunity to further spread the Korean Wave by actively attracting Asian tourists, fascinated by Korean pop culture.

In addition, independent band and rock concerts for the young generation, the Sound Nanta 2004 performance and fireworks are scheduled to take place until 2:00 am.

From 10:00 pm on the 8th till the daybreak of the 9th, special performance programs will be held at various shopping areas with different themes - dance at Dongdaemun (Street of Fashion), music at Myeongdong (Street of Shopping), traditional culture at Jongno (Street of Tradition), various performances at Mugyodong (Street of Korean Food) and independent band concert around the Daehangno, Shinchon and Hongdae area.

Korean Wave White Night Festival is the pivotal event of Hi Seoul Festival to promote Seoul. To this end, in collaboration with the Korea National Tourism Organization, we are jointly operating the Hi Seoul Grand Sale at major tourist attractions like hotels, duty free stores, shops, restaurants, palaces, art museums, etc. Seoul tourism packages will be made which includes the provision of discounts and the advantage of opening till late into the night to tourists from home and abroad.
