Happening from May 1st to May 9th, the Hi Seoul Grand Sale is an event providing great shopping deals along with the festival's parties to tourists seeking out the Hi
Seoul Festival.

30,000 major department stores, duty free centers, and hotels within Seoul along with the many shops in its 3 special tourism districts combine resources and efforts to provide discounts of up to 50% on fashion items, cosmetics, electronics, and luxury goods. Not only are the prices unbelievably low, there are plenty of in-store special events, contests, and prize giveaways to take part in. Because the Hi Seoul Grand Sale takes place during the Hi Seoul Festival, there will also be plenty to see if you are weary of shopping and opt for a break- it's a great time to experience the joy of visiting Seoul.

The Hi Seoul Grand Sale makes your trip to Korea twice as fun.

□ Dongdaemun Special Tourism District
Some of the greatest bargains can be found at Dondaemun Market, a large area packed with small shops and big malls. Around ten modern clothing malls have sprung up among the long-established older markets. Shops are open all night, brightly lit and playing cheerful music. The biggest items are fabrics, clothing, leather goods, women's and children's costumes, bedding, house wares, footwear, sporting goods, etc. Dongdaemun has become famous for having similar clothing to department stores, at very reasonable prices. These days, it is attracting public attention with such modern shopping malls as Migliore, DoosanTower, Hello apm, Hye Yang Elicim, Freya Town and Designer Club especially appealing to people in their teens and twenties.

□ Myeongdong Special Tourism District
A street leading the fashion trends of Korea
Myeong-dong Street covers a square kilometer from Myeong-dong Station to Euljiro and Lotte Department Store. It is not too much to say that Myeong-dong has the busiest fashion streets in Seoul and is the leader in Korean fashion trends. Not only will you find large shopping malls and famous brand shops where you can find clothing and shoes, but fast food chains, cafes and specialty restaurants, also fill the alleys. Compared to Namdaemun or Dongdaemun Markets, prices are relatively expensive mostly because they deal with luxury designs and names. Many star searchers frequent this area to find future top talent. Even on weekdays, the streets are bustling with shoppers and sightseers. A growing number of shops began to use English, Japanese and Chinese in their sigh boards and information leaflets. If you are in Seoul, don't forget to drop by this street.

□ Itaewon Special Tourism District
The area where Koreans become foreigners
In Itaewon, you will see many signboards written in foreign languages. This street is often called a "foreign land in Seoul" and has been designated as a Special Tourism Zone. A haven for international shoppers, about 2,000 fashion shops are in brisk business on a 1.4-kilometer street selling all kinds of fashion items and miscellaneous goods. The area also has numerous restaurants, bars, cafes, nightclubs and tourist hotels, making it a venue for lively night-life. Most shop owners here can speak foreign languages to a certain degree, and their goods are targeted to foreign shoppers in color, design and sizes. There are also many specialty restaurants that serve delicate and unusual dishes from all over the world, including food from Germany, Italy, France, Mexico, India, Pakistan, Switzerland and Thailand. These types of restaurants are hard to find elsewhere in the country.
