Visitor arrivals from the UK to South Korea for Oct 2005 were up 9.5% and cumulatively to the end of Oct 2005 up 12.5% to 61,200 over 2004. Visitor arrivals from the UK to South Korea were up 9% in 2004 to 65,975 over 2003.

Michael Michael, Marketing Manager for KTO said, “We are extremely pleased with this continued growth. We will expand on our successful strategy of working with tour operators to include Korea in their programmes next year by focusing on stopovers.

We are planning joint activity with Korean Air and Asiana Airlines to promote their routes not just to Australia and New Zealand but also to the Pacific and Asia. These include Hawaii, Fiji, Bali, The Philippines, Vietnam and Mongolia. A two or three day stop in Seoul adds an exciting extra dimension to a visit to these destinations.

Establishing Seoul as a stopover destination will help to boost our visitor numbers greatly by appealing to a much wider market.”
