Just as the 1988 Olympics and 2002 World Cup helped elevate and showcase the country, it is hoped that hosting Formula 1 in Korea will have the very same impact to a global viewing audience. The Jeollanam-do province is the location of the circuit in the south-western corner of Korea.

Jeollanam-do is rich in Korean folk customs and Korean cultural practices such as pansori (Korean opera) which is well preserved there. It is proud to offer visitors various tourist attractions such as national parks and coastlines, as well as numerous islets in the sea. Jeollanam-do is also recognized for a variety of special dishes and fresh seafood.
