With the designation of 2010 as 'Visit Korea Year' and the hosting of mega events such as the G20 Summit, Korea's first Formula one race next year, the 2011 UNWTO General Assembly, the World Athletics Championships in 2011 and the 2012 World Expo Yeosu, Korea is set to be firmly in the spotlight. All of which will bring greater visibility about our destination, especially since UNESCO World Heritage listing added Korea’s 9th World Heritage recently in the form of the royal tombs of the Joseon Dynasty.

Formula 1 arrives on the Korean peninsula in the autumn of 2010. The Jeollanam-do province is currently constructing a brand new circuit, the first one of its kind to be built around a coastline, which will compliment the development of the southwest coast tourism and leisure complex for this region of Korea, creating a hub for tourism in Northeast Asia. The F1 Korean Grand Prix will play a vital role in Jeonnam’s long-term development plans. Jeonnam Province will create a new style of leisure and sports culture – bring people and technology together with the launch of the J Project

WTM 2009 will be a chance for us to welcome our new President and CEO Mr. Cham Lee, the first naturalized Korean to take a top government post in Korea’s history. WTM will also be the perfect opportunity for our new and existing partners in Scandinavia, UK & Ireland to come and meet with Korean ground operators to further build partnerships and create greater product choice for the consumer. Our focus will also to encourage the ‘fully inclusive tours’ market and use Korea’s unique selling points as a major driver for inbound travel. From new niche markets of sports, cruise and medical tourism to taekwondo, temple-stays, hiking and skiing, Korea is a truly diverse nation. State-of-the-art conference centers’ have the space, place and expertise to organize your biggest or smallest requirement. Korea has something for everyone.
