Mireuksa Temple Site in Jeollabuk-do, Yangyang Surfyy Beach and Youngwol Y Park (Sulsaem Museum) in Gangwon-do, Gaehangjang (Open Port Area) Street in Incheon, and Cheongpung Cable Car in Chungcheongbuk-do were selected for the 2020 Korea Tourism Awards.
The 2020 Korea Tourism Awards selected attractions that promoted development in the tourism industry during the COVID-19 pandemic with strict disease preventive measures and creativity.
Mireuksa Temple Site, Yangyang Surfyy Beach, Gaehangjang (Open Port Area) Street, and Cheongpung Cable Car were awarded Grand Prize, and Youngwol Y Park (Sulsaem Museum) was awarded Special Prize.
Most importantly, Mireuksa Temple Site in Iksan is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a representative attraction in Jeollabuk-do. The site was praised for best practice by only accepting reservations for guided tours and following strict coronavirus preventive measures, setting the tone for other tourist attractions.
