KOREAN SPEECH CONTEST





The Korean Speech Contest was organized by the Korean Cultural Center (KCC) sponsored by the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) Manila along with partners United Korean Community Association in the Philippines, Ateneo Initiative for Korean Studies and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

 

The event was held at the Escaler Hall of the Ateneo de Manila University last April 30, 2016, Saturday. Different booths from KCC, KTO Manila, Atomy and Microtel by Wyndham were located outside of the auditorium where the contest took place.

  

 

A total of 11 finalists coming from Manila, Cebu, Baguio, Iloilo and Davao competed. The contest judges were: Lee Jong Hwa, professor at the University of the Philippines (UP); KCC Director Choong Suk Oh; Kim Jong Ho, principal of the Korean International School; Lee Jong Min, wife of Korean Ambassador to the Philippines Kim Jae Shin; and Park Inshik, director of KTO Manila.

 

The program included performances from Rafael Casimiro, a student of Ateneo de Manila University, and Jean Kiley Manguera, the 2014 Pinoy K-Pop Star winner.

 

Among all participants, Janine Laddaran of Ateneo de Manila University won third place receiving Php10,000 cash prize and a scholarship at KCC, while Christine Dizon of the Philippine International College won second place receiving Php15,000 cash prize and a scholarship at KCC. The grand prize winner, Angeli Marie Baclea-an, received Php30,000 cash prize, a scholarship at KCC and a Fun Korea Language Trip with roundtrip ticket to Korea sponsored by KTO Manila.
