Fall in Love with Korea at the Travel Madness Expo 2016

More Reasons to Travel for the Autumn and Winter Seasons

Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) exhibited Korea’s diverse products in this year’s Travel Madness Expo (TME). TME was organized by Travel Innovators and was held at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City, last July 8 to 10, 2016.  The autumn and winter themed Korea Tourism Pavilion located at booths 43 - 46 complemented the booths of Gyeonggi Tourism Organization (GTO), Gyeongsangbuk-do Tourism Corporation (GTC), Korean Air, and Asiana Airlines.

Autumn and winter are perfect seasons for Filipinos to travel to Korea. Experience and enjoy the fall foliage in the drama-like atmosphere as well as the cold but unforgettable winter getaway. Aside from Seoul, there were also several discounted travel packages to other Korean destinations like Busan, Jeju Island, Gyeonggi-do, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and Gangwon that can be purchased from KTO’s partner travel agencies during the expo. KTO gave away souvenir items to those who booked and purchased plane tickets and tour packages on-the-spot.

Visitors also had the chance to watch live musical and dance performances at the main event stage. I Love OPM’s Grand Touristar Yohan Hwang performed his own rendition of popular Filipino and Korean songs including the theme from the popular K-Dramas “My Love from the Star” and “Descendants of the Sun”. There was also a series of KPop-inspired dance and taekwondo performances from Filipino and Korean dancers and martial artists. KTO presented about the basic guidelines on getting a tourist visa, while GTO and GTC showcased their new and popular destinations.

According to KTO, Korea received a total of 202,735 Filipino tourists from January to May of this year, posting a growth rate of 20.3% compared to the previous year’s total of 168,488.
