Korea Tourism Organization to host Korea MICE Night 2017 in Manila

More than 2,200 Filipinos from 32 corporates visit Korea last year as incentive tour

Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) in association with regional tourism boards of Seoul, Gyeonggi, Busan, Gyeongsangnamdo and Jeju organized a special MICE road show last April 20, 2017 at New World Hotel, Makati.

The event was geared to promote Korea MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Conference and Exhibition) tourism to Philippine corporations and travel agents handling incentive tours.

Key MICE travel agents and corporations were invited to the event to network and seek possible synergies with South Korea travel service providers. The main attraction of the evening was the non-verbal performance of the Korean group “Bi-Seul” that engrossed the audience in traditional Korean dancing style. Also, Sue Ramirez, the Honorary Ambassador for Korea Tourism, shared her Korea trip experience and performed on-stage singing "Your Love" and "You Are My Everything".

The road show began with a travel mart where 13 Korean exhibitors showcased their new products and offerings for the Filipino travel trade. In addition, three regional tourism boards from Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Busan introduced their convention centers and hotels, and displayed MICE assets of South Korea.

During the travel mart more than 70 travel agencies and companies met suppliers and regional tourism bodies and received new product information and Korea’s MICE offerings. The evening function, Korea MICE Night 2017 comprised of presentations and testimonials about Korea as a MICE destination. The main presenters of the event were Mr. Leonides Intalan of Asia United Bank and Ms. Aileen Dreyfus of The Tummy Traveler blog. Both of whom shared testimonies of their trip to Korea.

Mr. Inshik Park, Director of the Korea Tourism Organization Manila Office said: “Last year more than 2,200 Filipinos from 32 different corporate groups visited Korea. As of early April this year, more than 1,500 Filipinos from 27 corporates has already visited Korea. We do in-house seminars in companies to brief them about Korea incentive tour and we support the incentive group tours through Philippine local travel agencies”

KTO is glad to announce its support guidelines to Philippine local travel agencies to help give their clients a lucrative incentive tour experience in Korea. Groups composed of more than 10 people staying for more than 2 nights in Korea, will be provided items and services ranging from souvenirs to subsidies commensurate with the group size.

Mr. Park also mentioned: “Korea has now transformed from being a new destination to a must try travel experience for Filipino travelers. There is a wealth of destinations that feature unique attractions and venues for MICE visitors. The Korea MICE Night 2017 is one of our efforts that aims to craft Korea as a highly competitive MICE destination”
