On the first full weekend of
January the New York Times published an article recommending the top 45 places
to go in 2012 and Korea made the list!
Highlighting Korea’s new and
exquisite golf resorts and clubs, the NY Times piece written by Danielle
Pergament suggested that Korea is becoming the newest golf spot in Asia. From locations such as the Haesley Nine
Bridges, a prestigious golf club just outside Seoul, which features one of Jeff
Koon’s sculptures within a clubhouse webbed of enormous wooden beams, and the
year old Jack Nicklaus Golf Club opened in Songdo with a club house designed by
Mehrdad Yazdani, to the Ananti Club found a short distance outside of Seoul and
nested in the middle of the Yumyeongsan forest, with three full courses and a
unique club house that lies almost entirely underground and designed by Ken
Min, Korea is certainly one of the top places to visit in 2012.
Along with these amazing golfing
attractions, Korea should be in your short list for several other reasons. For example the city of Yeosu in the south
coast of the peninsula is host to the 2012 Yeosu Expo, running from May 12 through
August 12 and will bring together visitors and delegations from all over the
world in order to share and enjoy the newest technologies to preserve and
protect our oceans.
Later in the fall the Formula 1
Korean Grand Prix will be run in the pristine setting of Jeollanam-do Province
so be sure to get out an explore the area as well!
