What is the Korail Pass?
It is a foreigner-exclusive railway pass launched in commemoration of the 2018 Winter Sports Event
Pass holders can travel throughout Korea including Pyeongchang, Gangneung, and Jeongseon by Korail trains from February 1, 2018 to March 25, 2018
Pass holders can take as many train trips as they want during the validity period of their PyeongChang Korail Pass
Available Trains
KTX-Sancheon, ITX-Saemaeul, ITX-Cheongchun
Saemaeul, Mugunghwa, Nuriro, commuter trains
5 tourist belt trains: Central Inland Circle Train (O-train), Baekdu-daegan Valley Train (V-train) / South Coasts Train (S-train) / Peace Train (DMZ-train) / Jeongseon Arirang Train (A-train) / West Gold Train (G-train)
1) Children under the age of 4 can use the trains free of charge when accompanied by a guardian (age of 13 and older) who has purchased a pass
2) Only a group of 2 to 5 people that has the same itinerary can use the SAVER Pass
3) YOUTH Pass is only for teens or students who have the ISIC (International Student Identity Card)
Reservation and Validity Period
Reservation Period: 10/10/17 - 12/10/17
PyeongChang Korail pass can only be purchased during the reservation period above
Once sold out, the pass can no longer be purchased
Validity Period: 2/1/18 - 3/25/18
How to Purchase and Use the PyeongChang Korail Pass
STEP 2: Choose either a 5-day or 7-day pass (select your departure date as well)
* Once selected, the departure date can be changed only once
STEP 3: Select the date and location of where to retrieve your commemorative card and a coupon booklet, then make a payment
STEP 4: Print your PyeongChang Korail Pass
* You must bring the hard-copy when you visit Korea
STEP 5: Select the train, time, and seat* you want, then print the ticket
* You can reserve your seat from the Korail website starting 30 days before boarding the train
** Seats will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis *** You may have to reserve a standing ticket if seats are fully booked (standing tickets can only be issued at stations)
STEP 6: Retrieve your commemorative card and a coupon booklet at a designated counter (January 22, 2018 - March 25, 2018)
* You need to have the printed PyeongChang Korail Pass (Step 4) with you to retrieve the card and a coupon booklet
STEP 7: Take the train

KTX Information Service Period: 2/9/18 - 2/26/18 (daily)
Service Routes:
Incheon International Airport-Gangneung: Takes about 3 hours, runs 4 times each (northbound and southbound)
Sangbong (Seoul)-Gangneung: Takes about 1 hour and 40 minutes, runs 15 times each (northbound and southbound)
Cheongnyangni (Seoul)-Gangneung: Takes about 1 hour and 40 minutes, runs 10 times each (northbound and southbound)
Seoul Station-Gangneung: Takes about 2 hours, runs 10 times each (northbound and southbound)
