Korea’s Spring Blossom Season To Be Brightened by Third World Flower Exhibition Goyang, Korea 2003
Considered to be the center of Korea’s floricultural industry, and located just an hour from Seoul, Goyang City welcomes the 3rd World Flower Exhibition, which is themed the “Joy of Flowers and Human Beings” and is scheduled for April 24 through May 8, 2003.
Vast landscapes, stunning flower arrangements and brilliant colors will provide a spectacle to be enjoyed by young and old. The festival is comprised of a combination of indoor and outdoor exhibition areas and provides both eye-pleasing floral displays, as well as educational exhibits. Indoor exhibits will include two World Halls, with a combined area of nearly 50,000 square feet. Other indoor exhibits will include a Theme Hall, a Korean Hall, a Flower Decoration Hall as well as an exhibit dedicated strictly to Wild Flowers.
Outdoors brings still more floral displays, including artwork made of flowers, a water garden, a rose garden, tulip garden and wildflower garden. Azaleas, Herbs, Chrysanthemums, Herbaceous Flowers and potted-plants, will also be featured in the outdoor areas. Myriad arrangements of landscaped gardens and a topiary display round out the fascinating displays. Several participatory events are scheduled during the festival, including a flower design competition, a traditional flower arrangement contest, a floral painting contest, a flower photography contest, as well as several informative lectures.
Show organizers boast of $825 million in new contracts from the last World Flower Exhibition, held in 2000, as well as a record 244 exhibitor companies that represented 40 countries from around the world. Organizers anticipate that this year’s show will exceed the results produced two years ago.
Goyang City produces 70% of all international exports of grafted cacti, making it one of the world’s leading markets in this area. For more information about the Goyang Korea Flower Show, visit the Internet at www.kofec.or.kr.
