JEJU, KOREA’S “PARADISE” ISLAND CULTURAL CELEBRATIONS

(FT. LEE, NJ) AUGUST 29, 2004 – The Korea National Tourism Organization and the Chilsimni Festival organizers, Seogwipo City’s Department of Tourism, Culture, invite you to experience our fascinating island culture.

The Seogwipo Chilsimni Festival is Jeju’s only comprehensive festival where people can experience this beautiful unique lifestyle and culture. It features diverse art and cultural programs, most notably the Seogwipo Chilsimni parade, as well as a variety of hands-on experiences.

Main Events:
Chilsimni Street parade, reenactment of General Choi Young’s subjugation of Mokho forces, Jeju folk performances, Chilsimni marathon, Jeju women divers swimming contest using Taewak (a ball-shaped floating device), sea-fin swimming contest, and a saltwater fishing contest.

Cheonjiyeon Falls Plaza in Seogwipo, Jeju.

From Seoul, Jeju is approximately 1 hour by air.

Cheonjiyeon Falls, Jeongbang Falls, Seogwipo shellfish fossil mound, submarine tour, Seogwipo pleasure boats, Jusangjeollidae (sea cliff at Jungmun-Daepo Coast).

Jeju Island is a semitropical island off the southern tip of the Korean peninsula. Recently it was announced that the Jungmun Golf Resort will host a PGA Championship in November 2005, and Celebrity tours recently announced a customized group Golf and Fish Korea package being led by US Sports legends Mr. Leonard Marshall (NY GIANTS), Mr. Wesley Walker (NY JETS), and Mr. Bruce Harper (NY JETS), for the spring of 2005.
