(FT. LEE, NJ) AUGUST 29, 2004 – The Korea National Tourism Organization and the Hyoseok Cultural Festival organizers, Bongpyeong’s Department of Tourism, Culture, invite you to experience its unique culinary arts, culture and nature.

The Bongpyeong region in Gangwon-do is known as a major producer of buckwheat as well as the backdrop for Lee Hyoseok’s famous novel, ‘When the Buckwheat Blossoms’. Every September, the white buckwheat flower filled region comes to life with a festival honoring the renowned author. Aside from the various performances and cultural events, delicious and healthy culinary items using buckwheat are offered to festival goers. Full of academic wonders and delicious dishes the Hyoseok Cultural Festival is where memories of a lifetime are made.
Main Events:
Hyoseok Literary contest, Literature symposium, Buckwheat noodle making, Buckwheat flower fields drawing contest, and a traditional market reenactment.

Hyoseok Literature Center and Event Hall.

From Seoul, Jangpyeong is approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes by bus, twelve times daily.
