(FT. LEE, NJ) – MARCH 22, 2005 Korea Offers Great Venue for International Conferences

As published on The Korea Times, South Korea last year unveiled its ambitious goal to attract more than 10 million visitors per year from 2008.
A top hotel executive offered a hint for the South Korean government to realize its target-- international conferences.
Roddy Gordon, area director of marketing for Korea and Micronesia of Grand Hyatt, said that Seoul has great potential to become a favorite venue for international conferences.
“Seoul is a very culturally interesting conference destination,’’ Gordon said. Seoul is equipped not only with up-to-date facilities for conferences but also with cultural inheritance, he added.
Gordon also said he found out during his trip to Jeju island in late February that the scenic resort island to the south of the nation is well equipped to host meetings.
“I was amazed with the infrastructure and beautiful road systems,’’ Gordon said. He said the island was one of the best convention centers he has ever seen, with the best views in the world.
In 2007 the Jeju Convention Center will be host to the American Association of Travel Agencies (ASTA) International Destination Expo with over 2,000 ASTA members, travel agents and journalists.
