The KNTO Chicago Office is sending Grannies on Safari to Korea to tape a 30 minute segment for their travel show to be shown on PBS stations around the United States.

Imagine two middle-aged African-American women who are best friends, traveling worldwide to destinations that dazzle the eye and intrigue the mind. Picture your curiosity sparked as they discover people who invite you into their lives, traditions and cultures.

The “Grannies on Safari” are Pat Johnson and Regina Fraser, who between them have traveled to more than 80 countries over the last three decades. Pat Johnson is a widely respected arts administrator who has worked with many nationally recognized cultural institutions in three states and has owned an art gallery. Regina Fraser is an energetic world traveler with a natural curiosity about the world and its most creative citizens. She has more than 31 years with a major airline and held a variety of positions in corporate communications, marketing and advertising.

In each episode of their pioneering new television series, they embark on expeditions in search of the bizarre, the exotic and the sublime, following winding roads, riding canoes, camels and donkeys, looking behind mysterious doors, and visiting urban city centers and rural hamlets. There are surprises at every turn as they determinedly track down cultural treasures. Pat and Regina’s interactions with each other and the situations in which they find themselves make every program an engaging journey.

Series locations include South Africa, Morocco, Ghana, Senegal, Korea, Vietnam, Shanghai, Brazil, and Australia.
