Ironman Korea Triathlon Jeju
Jeju Island, where the triathlon will be held, is one of the world's most beautiful islands. It is located 150 kilometers off the Korean Peninsula at the juction of the Yellow Sea, East Sea and the East China Sea.
The host city is Seogwipo City, which successfully staged the event in 2000 and 2001. Seogwipo was also a 2002 FIFA World Cup venue and in addition to building one of the world's most spectacular stadiums, roads and facilities were also upgraded for the World Cup.
Seogwipo is an ideal lead-up race to Hawaii due to its subtropical zone. It has the look and feel of Kona due to its blend of volcanic rock and humid climate. The race will start on the white sands of Jungmun Beach and will tour Jeju Island's fishing villages and volcanic foot hills on the bike portion; the Finish Line is at the main entrance of the World Cup Stadium.
