Every year, about 400 thousand Korean and foreign tourists rush to see this amazing sight, a fully exposed sea way for 1 hour! The festival is dependent on the lunar calendar and the tides, so from year to year the date of the festival varies and this year the festival will be held July 22 to July 24th. We hope you can make it!

The Jindo Yeongdeung Festival is held when the tide drops six or seven meters to part the sea between Hoidong Village and Modo Island. You can walk across the seabed, gathering edible seaweed, conches, clams and octopus while experiencing this Korean version of “Moses parting the sea.” It is a memorable experience to learn the interesting legends associated with the parting of the sea and the traditional folk customs of the Jindo region.
