The Andong Mask Dance Festival, marking its 8th anniversary this year, will be held in Andong, the home of Korea’s Confucian culture.

This year’s festival will feature refined domestic and international mask dance performances. Moreover, visitors will enjoy abundant things to see at the 34th Andong Folk Festival featuring Chajeonnori (a traditional male collective play), Notdaribalkki (traditional female collective play), and Dosanbyeolsi (a Confucian tradition of poetry composition competition) will be staged simultaneously. At Hahoe Village, which has been designated as one of Korea’s cultural assets, visitors will not only be able to enjoy the spectacle of mask dance performances in the pine tree forests, but also the splendid Hahoe Sonyu-julbulnori, the highlight of Korea’s traditional fireworks, which will be featured across the night sky, leaving an unforgettable impression on the memories of visitors.

Main Events: Mask dance performances by 30 groups from 8 countries, Seonyu-julbulnori, mask dance lessons, Korean traditional classical music performances, masks and totem guardian poles exhibition, mask-making, the re-enactment of traditional wedding ceremonies, natural dyeing sessions and Korean puppet shows.
