2005 ASTA World Travel Congress, Montreal and More

Ft. Lee, NJ, November 30, 2005: The 2005 ASTA World Travel Congress held in Montreal from the 6th to the 10th of November was an absolute success for all the attendees and especially for the Korea Tourism Organization. KTO worked closely with the Jeju Provincial Government (JPG) to bring about an unforgettable experience for all the delegates.

In addition to partnering to create a beautiful booth, KTO and the JPG sponsored a Luncheon and Destination Seminar on November 9, it was attended by over 160 travel agents and tour operators, and while these enjoyed a good meal, they also got a great education on Korea and its many attractions. The Destination Seminar had the participation of several presenters, such as the Shilla Hotel, Hotel Lotte, Korean Air, the Jeju National University, as well as a key note speaker, Walter L. Keats, CTC, CMP, president of Asia Pacific Travel.

The attendees also had a chance to get more personal with Korea during the six round-table sessions that were held on November 8. The setting allowed for up to 8 travel agents to sit down with a KTO representative at one time for about 7 minutes, where specific questions could be addressed and resolved.

The agents who signed up and attended one or both events came out with greater knowledge and confidence to sell Korea to their travelers.

Now KTO is preparing to attend two more similar events. In just a few months Korea will attend the first ASTA International Destination Expo to be held in Prague from the 21 to the 26 of March. This will be the first IDE and it will serve as an excellent prelude to the one Korea will be hosting in March of 2007, in Jeju Island.

Then later in 2006 KTO will attend THE TRADE SHOW, which is ASTA’s newest conference event, the Travel Retailing and Destination Expo, which will be held in Orlando, Florida from the 10 to the 13 of September of 2006.
