Over a six-month period, nearly 5,000 Global Traveler readers inundated us with mail, fax and Internet responses to our comprehensive survey. AIRLINES There have been many changes in the airline category over the past year — changes that have impacted our selections and the way we travel. A recent survey indicated that in the near future, online bookings will account for 50 percent of all airline tickets sold. This is good news — and bad — for the industry and the traveler. It’s good because it provides the convenience of purchasing tickets and reserving accommodations anywhere, anytime. For the second year running, Asiana Airlines came away with the top award for best cabin staff and onboard service. No wonder, since the service provided by Asiana’s flight attendants harks back to the glory days of air travel, when the cabin crew took pride in anticipating a passenger’s every need.
