Korea was featured on the “Anthony Bourdain No Reservations” TV show on the Travel Channel on June 12 at 10:00 PM. This program was possible thanks to the close collaboration of the Korea Tourism Organization NY office, the aT Center of NY, and Zero Point Zero Productions.

This hour-long episode showed a more personal side of Korea, the path less traveled by most tourists, and it made for a refreshing view of Korean life, food and culture.

With the company of Nari, a young Korean-American girl going back home after a long time, Anthony took us to the typical food vendors on the streets of Seoul, and on a visit to the fish market where he saw countless varieties of fish and seafood just fresh out of the water.

The audience also experienced a Taekwondo demonstration that fused dance, form and technique, followed by acrobatic and board-breaking jumps, kicks, and punches. Not having given us enough, we are taken on a ride to visit a charcoal factory that also operates a traditional Korean sauna where the heat is matched and accompanied by tasty pork, bacon, beer and soju.

On the way back Tony and Nari stop at the Noraebang (Korean word for Karaoke), the arcade and even DVD rooms, places where the young people of Korea go to watch movies, hang out and have fun.

The show will be re-aired about 2 months from today, check your Travel Channel schedule and don’t miss this great chance to see Korea up close and personal and get the common folk eye’s view, we are confident that you will learn a thing or two about this exciting and fun loving country, we hope your curiosity will be tickled so you will personally come and see these and more things that Korea has to offer.
