Smithsonian opens Korea Gallery

June 7: The Smithsonian Natural History Museum in Washington, D.C. will host the opening ceremony for the Korea Gallery. This new exhibition presents Korea's millennia of history and its distinctive culture through ceramics, paintings, textiles and sculptures. Thematic areas of the exhibit include: Korean ceramics, honoring family, The Korean wedding, Hangeul (the Korean writing system), Korea's natural and built landscapes, Koreans overseas, and Korea's visual arts today. The timeline of the exhibit spans from the 6th century B.C. all the way to the 21st century.

Members from the Korean Tourism Organization Office in New York and the Korean Cultural Service will attend the opening ceremony for the gallery. Approximately 400 guests will be in attendance at the event. During the ceremony, the guests will be introduced to the new Korea, Sparkling brand through promotional videos and material as well as information about the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.
