Events To Enjoy This Summer In Seoul & Beyond
Culture fans
have something to look forward to this summer in the form of an annual cultural
event bringing the performing arts outdoors at major sites in the heart of
Seoul, live jazz on the Hangang River and finally a regional fireworks festival
in Pohang.
Culture and Art in Seoul Plaza
This event, presented
by the Seoul city government and now in its fourth year, features a diverse
program of free performances organized around different themes each month. This
month, there will be dance performances in genres ranging from ballet and tango
to jazz and salsa. The list includes, but is not limited to: A ballet gala by
the Seoul Ballet Theater (on June 29) and an encore performance of “Marionette”
by Korean B-boy group Expression Crew (on June 30). In July, the “Seoul and the
World” program offers not only traditional music from Korea such as pansori
(narrative singing), but also traditional music from countries in Asia, Africa
and South America.
Free Jazz Concerts on the floating stages of the
Hangang River in Seoul
Enjoy live music at one of Korea’s most unique
venues; live concerts on the Hangang River Floating Stage (brought to you by the

already kicked off with a magnificent performance by the US Department of
State-designated jazz band,” The Mark Sherman-Tim Horner Quartet.” Add to that

“Shin Kwang-Woong Band,” and you have a line-up that no music enthusiast can
