LONDON – August 18,
2014 – 13,000
athletes and officials and about 7,000 media from the 45 OCA member states are
expected to attend the 17th Asian Games in Incheon. The event will
not only be a chance for athletes to showcase their talents across 36 events,
but also the perfect indicator pointing towards who to watch in 2016.
Medal winners in Incheon may well claim podium spots in Rio, so the eyes of the
Asian world will be focused on Korea next month.
The
‘17th Incheon Asian Games’ is hosted by the ‘Olympic Council of
Asia’ and is a major event where top athletes compete to set new regional
records. To actively promote and
encourage participation in the 17th Asian Games in Incheon, the organizing
committee appointed key personnel, celebrities, medalists from international
tournaments, and citizens to the PR committee. It also appointed overseas
Korean residents, business people and delegates of major institutions as
honorary PR ambassadors, enabling the national and international promotion of
the 17th Asian Games in Incheon.
Incheon
is the second biggest port city in Korea and was the first city in Korea to
truly begin modernizing. Wolmido Island and Yeonan Pier are top
tourist attractions of Incheon and Incheon International Airport,
Incheon Bridge and Incheon
Songdo International City, a free economic zone, have recently emerged to show
a new side of Incheon.
