Winter Festivals in Korea

In Korea, the choice of annual festivals is quite mind boggling, with every type of style and variety. Starting in December, the country begins with the winter festivals, in areas known for natural beauty, good quality snow and ice and a party atmosphere. Here are some of the winter festivals you can take part in across the country. It is time to head out to embrace the freezing temperatures, the season of goodwill and experience a winter wonderland!

 

Pyeongchang Trout Festival

Hwacheon Sancheoneo (Mount Trout) Ice Festival

Pyeongchang Trout Festival

∙Place: Jaraseom (Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do)

∙Programs: ice fishing, ice trees with ice flowers, icicle fall, igloo café, ice skating, riding bumper cars

Seoul’s theme parks illuminate during the winter season:

 

The entire park will be illuminated with thousands of LED lights and laser beams during the Christmas Fantasy Festival at Everland. To celebrate the holiday, a 13m tall Christmas tree will be installed and the festival will feature a parade with artificial snow that will put you in the spirit.

At one of Seoul’s centrally located sites, the Lotte theme park will turn into a fairytale. Within Lotte World, visitors can join in with Santa Claus and fairies that will be dancing and singing to the Christmas carol band. The festival will present a variety of special Christmas parties including a Santa Village tour and a Christmas musical.
