The Korea Tourism Organisation - London (KTO - visitkorea.or.kr) is delighted to announce that Mrs. Sylvia Park, a former colleague of KTO was included in the Queen’s Birthday honours list with an MBE and received her investiture from HRH the Prince of Wales at Buckingham Palace on the 30th January 2015.

The MBE was presented to Mrs. Park, Events Secretary of the British Korean Society (formerly the Anglo-Korean Society) for services to strengthening links between the UK and Korea, under the diplomatic section of the award. Mrs. Park commented “I am truly delighted to receive the MBE and immensely proud of the recognition of many years work”.

Mrs. Park continues to promote Korea’s relationship through the British Korean Society and as the founder and Chairman of the British Korean Women’s Society. The society aims to connect women in the UK who are either of Korean origin, or who have an interest in Korea and its culture through regular meetings and events (bkws.org.uk).

Mrs. Park was the first official representative of the ‘Korea National Tourism Corp’ (now called Korea Tourism Org) back in 1977. Since then she has worked to promote Korea in various roles primarily devoting her time to voluntary services with the British Korean Society.

We congratulate Sylvia on her amazing achievement and continue to support her to build links between our two nations.
