From June to August Korea has some fabulous festivals across all of the summer months. This is the season for fun with all your family and friends; Korea has many diverse options to experience and keep everyone occupied. Whichever part of Korea you visit, you can be pretty sure that there will be some event or festival to enjoy. Maybe check out some of these fascinating summer festivals to take advantage of the great temperatures and the blue skies.
Some of the best summer activities will of course be found at the beach festivals, like the West Coast’s Boryeong Mud Festival in July, and the Busan Sea Festival in August. Other events in these months include cultural festivals like the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, where one can watch fantasy movies all night long; the Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival, with performances by internationally famous rock musicians and the Gangjin Celadon Festival, which features a variety of ancient ceramics.
For those looking for more energetic pursuits to watch or be involved in then maybe the World Taekwondo Culture Expo at Taekwondowon (a major park dedicated to the sport of Taekwondo) in Muju, spanning 6 days in mid July will get the heart racing. This major taekwondo festival will include major competitions, but will also have alternative programmes as well, including taekwondo performances and cultural activities to introduce Jeollabuk-do, Korea, and the art of taekwondo to visitors.
