Last week the Korea Tourism Organization announced the appointment of K-Pop girl group ITZY as its new honorary ambassador. This comes as a rare piece of exciting news at a time when travel is still limited due to Covid-19, and we hope ITZY’s dynamic contribution to our online advertising campaign will provide much-needed comfort and inspiration as you start thinking about your next trip to Korea.

ITZY is an up-and-coming girl group that debuted in 2019 under JYP Entertainment and is already making waves in the K-Pop industry. The five members – Yeji, Lia, Ryujin, Chaeryeong and Yuna – have gained a substantial following thanks to their upbeat songs, cutting-edge performances and vibrant personalities.

As an introduction to the new ambassadors, a series of six promotional  videos featuring exclusive performances by ITZY was published to the KTO YouTube Channel throughout August. The videos showcase the Rhythm of Korea and are split into a variety of themes including adventure, beauty, taste, healing and nightlife, offering a unique experience for each visitor.

In more local news, the Korea Tourism Organization London Office has collaborated with National Geographic Traveller on their September/October 2020 issue, whose print edition was released yesterday and features an extended advertorial on South Korea: The Edge of Asia.

The article introduces a diverse selection of Korea travel highlights, from the city streets of Seoul and Busan to the rocky outcrops of Jeju Island and Gangwon-do.
