Ever wanted to live somewhere where the pace of life is slow and traces of capitalism are just a distant memory? Look no further ‘Cittaslow’ is the only slow city in Asia. The town is marked by natural splendour balancing past and present. 101 towns in 12 countries around the world have transformed themselves into places where residents enjoy the benefits of peace, calm and real relaxation.

Four towns in the Jeollanam-do Province have been designated as ‘slow cities’, having passed strict scrutiny by the Cittaslow Association. To become eligible, a Cittaslow-approved town must have a population of 50,000 or less and preserve traditional handicrafts and cooking methods. In addition unique aspects of cultural heritage must be protected and environment-friendly agricultural practices must be in evidence.
