GANGGYEONG SALTED SEAFOOD FESTIVAL
CELBRATES 100 YEAR TRADITION
(FT. LEE, NJ) AUGUST 29, 2004 – The Korea National Tourism Organization and the Ganggyeong Festival organizers, Ganggyeong Port City’s Department of Tourism, Culture, invite you to experience 100 years of tradition.
Ganggyeong Salted Seafood Festival is where visitors can enjoy the true taste of Korean salted seafood will be held at Ganggyeong Port, Ganggyeong Salted Seafood Market, and Ongnyeobong Peak in Nonsan-si, Chungcheongnam-do. The festival is aimed at promoting Ganggyeong salted seafood with its 100-year history to the public by processing salted seafood using less salt to suit the palates of modern people and using scientific fermentation methods. Visitors are invited to the festival where they can view Ganggyeong Port where trade boats sailed into port 100 years ago, taste Ganggyeong salted seafood and enjoy the late autumn scenery unfolding along the reed fields beside the Geumgang River.
Main Events:
Sea King ritual at Ganggyeong Port, sailing ritual, ritual prayer for a good catch, Baekjungnori-Durenori (folk play), Kimchi-making with salted seafood, salted fish parade, salted food exhibition, and photo exhibition.
