KOREA’S PREHISTORIC PAST COMES ALIVE WITH UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITES

(FT. LEE, NJ) AUGUST 29, 2004 – The Korea National Tourism Organization and the Ganghwa Dolmen Festival organizers, Ganghwa-gun City’s Department of Tourism, Culture, invite you to experience our prehistoric past.

Every October along with the Gaechon Grand Festival, the Ganghwa Doleman Festival takes place. It offers visitors the opportunity to experience both the UNESCO World Heritage Sites designated Ganghwa dolmens and many other natural and historical resources of the region. There are all sorts of remnants from the past in Ganghwa, ranging from relics from prehistoric times to artifacts from the fairly recent Joseon era. Lean about the history and wisdom of Korea’s ancestors through the cultural events and historical sites of interest available in the region.

Eve festival, King Cheoljongs Enthronement Parade, Gaechon Grand Festival, dolmen construction reenactment.

Dolmen Plaza, Mt. Manisan -Chamseongdan Alter.

From Seoul, Ganghwa is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes by bus.

Jeokseoksa Temple, Bomunsa Temple, Jeondeungsa Temple, Mt. Manisan, Gwangseongbo Fortress, Chojijin encampment.
